I am a debater. My voice is the best voice. The greatest. But if you're a coach, talking is not the most effective way to help your students improve.
This episode breaks down why a coaching strategy based on lecturing at students is wrong and suggests some alternatives. It's a bit of a pet peeve, so be expect some feels, generalisations and absolutisms. It's all true.

Are all good debaters also good coaches?

If you're really good at playing football, does that also mean you good at coaching others to play football? Is coaching transmission of knowledge, or is it creation of knowledge?
As I've hinted, I think coaching and playing are different, but related skillsets (and mindsets). Doing one well doesn't always mean you do the other well too, but there is a way you can be good at both.
